Your Roofing Questions, Answered

Do I need a new roof, or can it be repaired?

Most roofs don’t need fully replacing — a repair often sorts the problem for a fraction of the cost. You likely need someone to take a look if you can see slipped, cracked or missing tiles, damp patches on upstairs ceilings, bits of tile collecting in the gutters, or daylight coming through the loft. I’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a repair or a re-roof, and put it in writing.

What are the most common roof problems?

The ones I see most are slipped or broken tiles and slates, leaks around chimneys and flashing (the leadwork), blocked or split gutters, cracked mortar along the ridge, and moss holding damp against the tiles. Left alone, one slipped tile is what turns into a leak over the kitchen — catching it early is nearly always cheaper than waiting.

How much does a new roof cost?

There’s no single price — it depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the materials (slate, tile or flat roof), how easy it is to reach, whether scaffolding is needed, and how much of the roof actually needs work. That’s why I never quote blind. I come out, take a proper look, and give you a fixed written quote for free, with no obligation to go ahead.

My roof is leaking — what should I do?

Move anything valuable clear, catch the drip in a bucket, and if water’s coming through a ceiling, switch off the electrics to that room. Then call me on 07340 923953 — I’ll get to you quickly, make it watertight, and sort the proper repair once it’s dry enough to work safely. Don’t sit on a leak; water spreads fast through a roof.

How quickly can I get a quote?

I call back the same working day, and you’ll have a written quote within 24 hours of me seeing the roof. Every quote is fixed, free, and comes with photos of what I found so you know exactly what you’re paying for — which makes life much easier for landlords and managing agents who need it for their records.

Do you work with landlords and letting agents?

Yes — a lot of my work is for landlords, letting agents and managing agents across Bracknell, Wokingham, Windsor, Ascot and Camberley. You get one point of contact, fast quotes, photo reports before and after, clear invoices, and work that matches the paperwork. Fully insured, whether it’s one property or a whole portfolio.
